Atia and Servilia

Episode:4
Season:1
Characters: Atia to Servilia
Actors: Polly Walker and Lindsay Duncan
Scene: Atia tries to get Servilia to confide in her about her relationship with Julius Caesar.

"You naughty woman, you never told me that Caesar had such a passion for you...I saw the way he looked at you. Like the bull that topped Europa. I can't blame him such beauty!"

Comments: I thought this scene was hilarious and showed what lengths Atia would go to find out what she wanted. A few minutes later she said to her slave Mersula,"She has a good cosmetics slave, I'll grant you, but a lover for Caesar? Absurd!"

Comments: Best line of the series

It sure was! Loved the way the big smile never once left Atia's face when she said this.

Without a doubt, this wins "Best Line"...hands down!! ~offwithherhead~

Vorenus: (Enraged) "How do you know this about her?!"

Pullo: "All women have them! Ask anyone!"

Comments: I absolutely loved this scene...it was the scene that made me start to fully appreciate Pullo and his vast wealth of knowledge of women. ~ offwitherhead~

An angry Antony

Episode: 15
Season: 2
Characters: Mark Antony
Actors: James Purefoy
Scene: Cicero's letter being read out to Mark Antony in the Senate.

Directed to Antony.

" When I was a young man, I defended our state. As an old man I shall not abandon it. Please listen as if you were sober and intelligent, and not a drink-sodden, sex addled wreck; You have brought upon us war, pestilence and destruction. You are Rome's Helen of Troy. But then... a women's role has always suited you best."
~Cicero

Comments: Now that has a bit of a sting to it! lol ~offwithherhead~

Atia's Gift to Servilia

Episode: 6
Season: 1
Characters: Atia and Octavia
Actors: Polly Walker and Kerry Condon
Scene: Atia wants to send Servilia a gift to make amends in case Caesar is defeated. So she sends her a naked slave with a jewel encrusted tortoise shell. Atia explains the gift to Octavia.

Atia: "...a gift of large penis is always welcome!"

Comments: I love that Atia says it the way it is...in her eyes anyway! lol ~offwithherhead~

I loved the way she said it too! So matter of fact!
Atia and Octavia

Episode: 3
Season: 1
Characters: Atia and Octavia
Actors: Polly Walker and Kerry Condon
Scene: The mob is outside the house and threatening to break in and kill all the people inside....but rather than endure a death by the mob, Atia plans their own deaths...

Octavia: Mother, I would rather it were not you that killed me, if you have no objection.
Atia: Whyever not? You can't still be angry with me.
Octavia: Is that an order?
An arguement ensues between the two, and....
Atia: Castor, be sure to cut Octavia's throat before you cut mine.
Octavia: Castor, let mother do it. I won't deny her one last pleasure. It would be undaughterly.

Comments: I thought this was one of the funniest scenes in the series...the way they made their own deaths such a matter-of-fact kind of thing. ~offwithherhead~

Possibly the funniest dialoge from season one!

Octavia and Glabius
Episode: 2
Season: 1
Characters: Glabius, Octavia & Atia
Actors: Roberto Purvis, Kerry Condon, Polly Walker
Scene: Atia has compelled Glabius to divorce Octavia. Glabius sneaks into Atia's villa to see his love. The couple is confronted by Atia. Glabius attempts to stand up to his mother in-law but receives a fiery reply.

Atia: By the Five Furies, if I were not a genteel woman I'd have you flayed, and hung by a bracket at the door! Castor, fetch the dogs!!

Comments: I may be more sympathetic to young love than Atia was at this point, but I can't argue with the effectiveness of her threat. In fact, I've appropriated it for my own rl use once or twice, hehe.~AtiaLustii~

And men today think they have Mother-in-Law problems... no comparison! lol. ~offwithherhead~
